Since inception of the Environmental Permitting Summer School (EPSS), originally known as the Environmental Permitting Short Course, Breedlove, Dennis & Associates, Inc. (BDA) has been honored to learn alongside industry peers, share expertise, and contribute to the evolution of environmental permitting practices over the last forty years. BDA President Dr. W. Michael Dennis has served as a sustained panelist on wetlands and regulatory topics since his participation in the Dredge and Fill short course in 1986. Since 2009, BDA Vice President Ms. Penny Cople has continued this legacy through ongoing panel participation focused on Florida’s Uniform Mitigation Assessment Method (UMAM). Their long-standing involvement reflects BDA’s commitment to professional service, mentorship, and advancing sound environmental practices. Each year, the firm looks forward to returning to EPSS to reconnect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and support the broader environmental community. The 40th anniversary of EPSS coincides with another milestone, as BDA celebrates 50 years of providing trusted environmental and natural resources consulting services throughout the southeastern United States. For five decades, BDA’s multidisciplinary team of scientists has delivered comprehensive, defensible, and environmentally sound solutions that meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and applied expertise in natural systems ecology and consulting services to include wetland delineation, mitigation planning, environmental permitting and compliance, wildlife and plant surveys, threatened and endangered species coordination, habitat restoration, land management planning, water quality, and aquatic ecology. As EPSS and BDA mark significant anniversaries, this shared history reflects the value of long-term engagement, professional stewardship, and a collective commitment to environmental excellence.
